Margaret Island Meanderings

Marc and I tried out our new Metro passes and headed out to Margaret Island in the middle of the Danube River. It was a grey, overcast day but the perfect temperature for a nice crisp walk in the woods.

Margaret Island has walking paths, a rubberized running track around its perimeter, a mini-zoo of some sort (we haven’t figured out what it really is yet but it has odd animals to include a deer that seems to shout and some wicked cool chickens), an old church, midieval ruins, lots of busts of some seriously communist looking guys, a hotel, a spa featuring hotsprings, sports feilds, swimming complexes, and probably a bunch of other stuff we didn’t see. But even with all that it feels calm and peaceful, a great get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Oh, and they sell really yummy hot mulled wine (forralt bor, literally “boiled wine”) from trail side stands!
